Harvey

I watched an old movie for the first time the other night....Harvey. I'm ashamed to say that I'd never watched it before.....

I love watching James Stewart. He is always funny. My favorite quotes.....simply because i can't resist sharing them...

Think carefully, Dowd. Didn't you know somebody, sometime, someplace by the name of Harvey? Didn't you ever know anybody by that name?
No, no, not one, Doctor. Maybe that's why I always had such hopes for it.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

Miss Kelly, perhaps you'd like this flower. I seem to have misplaced my buttonhole.Miss Kelly, you know, when you wear my flower you make it look beautiful.

Colds and Catching Up

I've a cold today. It really is no fun at all. Energy seems to have completely left my body. I'm trying to refrain from saying I hate anything...but boy, it's hard. Because I really don't like being sick. I think though that there is something to be grateful for in this. I know that the moment I have energy and health I will be super grateful and not take it for granted for about a week....maybe.
Anyway I suppose it is also a good time to be catching up on my reading list. I have Jannette Oke books to read that I just got from Goodwill and I really want to re-read Jane Eyre.

When the moon hit your eye like a big PIZZA PIE!!!

...that's A'more ! I made pizza to-night, completely from scratch! And it was delicious even if I do say so myself... just kidding. it was nothing special, all I did was follow a reciepe and use fresh ingredients. that in it's self make everything taste better, at least I think so.

I love reading Jane Austen. It is fun , I suppose, but I'm not big on the "romance" part of the story...okay if I'm honest then I'm BIG  on the romance part. What I meant was it isn't my favorite part. I love the wit, irony and the fiesty-ness of  her heroines. reading Pride and & Prejudice is almost always worth the time and effort.
My favorites are Mansfield Park and  Northanger  Abbey.  In Mansfield Park Austen makes fun of the "modern" habit of giving the heroine everything she wanted just because she was a good person and not because she ever worked for it. And in Mansfield Park Austen uses the Gothic novel as her inspiration. Her heroine stays with a new acquaintance and imagines her new friends have many dark secrets she then tries to unfold....and yet again the hero falls in love with her through no effort of her own...

On another note... I'm making myself a Kitty purse...inspired by none other then Solanah over at Vixen Vintage... I hope I've spelled her name right...

Pride & Prejudice and housework

I was alone for some of the day and so I put Pride & Prejudice in and starting cleaning my room....and I did get a surprisingly good amount of work done. Even managed to cook dinner.

I'm thinkin'....

Of Rock 'n' Bowl !

Maybe...

And I finally bought You've Got Mail, which my oldest sister insisted I watch, because of my desire to own a bookstore. Or at the very least work in one. Pretty cute movie. Of course I just love listening to Meg Ryan talk.

Thanks to Anastasia which is NOT a Disney movie, by the way, it is a Fox production I believe...

 Bless Jesus!
